Epic Games installer will not uninstall

If you can't install Epic Games Launcher because of an error, try manually removing all leftover installation files.

  1. Uninstall the Epic Games Launcher
    1. Open Control Panel on your computer
    2. Select Programs or Programs and Features
    3. Right-click Epic Games Launcher, and then click Uninstall
  2. Delete the Epic Game Folder
    1. Click the yellow folder icon on the Windows task bar to open File Explorer
    2. Go to the Epic Games folder. Typically, this is at C:\Program Files\Epic Games
    3. Right-click the Epic Games folder, and then click Delete
  3. Delete the temp files
    1. In the Windows search field type: %localappdata%
    2. Select the %localappdata% folder. This will open File Explorer
    3. Right-click the Epic Games Launcher folder, and then click Delete
    4. In the Windows search field type: %temp%
    5. Select the %temp% folder. This will open File Explorer
    6. Select all files
    7. Press the Delete key. If there are any warning messages select Skip All
    8. Press Windows key + R to open the run window
    9. Type: temp
    10. Press the Enter key to open the temp folder in File Explorer
    11. Select all files
    12. Press the Delete key. If there are any warning messages select Skip All
    13. Press Windows key + R to open the run window
    14. Type: prefetch
    15. Press the Enter key to open the prefetch folder in File Explorer
    16. Select all files
    17. Press the Delete key. If there are any warning messages select Skip All
    18. Restart your computer. Your computer should be free of any leftover files or possible corrupted files.
  4. Once your computer reboots, re-download the Epic Games Launcher and install it.
